There is a rhythm to putting in your hardest effort. It lies in the crescendo of your heart rate, the quickening cycle of inhales and exhales, and the drumming of your feet against the ground. It follows the swing of your arms and the strides of your legs, a movement melody that accompanies the steadfast tenacity found in testing the boundaries of your exertion. In these endeavors, there is reassurance in running gear that harmonizes with your persistence, found in the silky soft feel of the Twilight and the stability provided by the Allston collections, now available in new colorways and updated to meet you at your highest intensity.

Men’s Twilight Shorts

Tracksmith’s Twilight Shorts surprised us in the best way possible. Known for their homage to running history and classic designs, Tracksmith typically delivers straightforward gear that echoes the sport’s traditional roots. However, the Twilight Shorts break the mold just a little by striking a perfect balance between a longer short fit and a more jersey-like feel.

Designed with versatility in mind, these shorts offer a refreshing option for those who prefer a bit more coverage without compromising on style or performance. Coming in at a 5 inch inseam, they cater to runners like myself who appreciate a modest length without venturing into the realm of ultra-short styles. As someone now in my forties, comfort takes precedence over sheer speed, and the Twilight Shorts offer the ideal blend of both.

Despite their casual appearance, reminiscent of basketball shorts, the Twilight Shorts boast top-notch running construction (85% Polyester 15% Elastane). Featuring a lightweight design, a Polygiene anti-microbial liner, and three convenient pockets, they effortlessly transition from casual runs to everyday activities. Whether logging miles or tackling yard work, these shorts have quickly become my go-to option as temperatures rise.

Men’s Allston Half Tights

I have always wanted a pair of running tights. I don’t fit the typical runner body, so generally I prefer a little more wiggle room. However, it was high time to try one out – and with the launch of the Spring ’24 Collection option from Tracksmith, I couldn’t say no.

First off, I have to say that the construction and fit of these shorts are top-notch. They’re made with a blend of 57% Nylon, 43% Elastane that feels incredibly lightweight (and stretchy), so you can move around in them with ease. This item has updated sizing for this year, so definitely go UP a size as this is the most compressive half tight they have.

The waistband is also really comfortable and doesn’t dig in, even when you’re doing some hardcore running. And the 8″ length is just right – not too short where I felt self-conscious, but not too long where I felt like I was wearing capris. The cuffs have a little silicone to keep on the legs without rising up. Overall, I’m really impressed with how well these shorts fit and how comfortable they are.

They possess has a few key features that make them a great choice for running fast. It’s nice that they come with zipped pocket on the left side (which could fit most phones), and a drop in pocket towards the rear on the right side for smaller gear – like fueling. No matter how fast you want to run, it’s nice to have a bit of space to carry at least some of the essentials with you.

They come in a lined and unlined version as well. The liner is anti-microbial, and we think provides a little more modesty and structure as well. They come in two colors.

Both of these options are a solid choice for anyone looking for a comfortable, functional pair of running bottoms this Spring and Summer. They are high quality and ready to handle some pace.
