Daybreak Racing puts on some of the most gorgeous trail races in the Pacific NW, and the Mt. Hood Trail Games is no exception. This race, held on September 7th this year, offers a different take on a “three-leafed clover” course that consists of three loops which add up to a 25k distance.
All three of the loops start and finish on the Sun Deck at Mt. Hood Meadows and there are a few different options for you shown below:

- If you’re a “Lone Wolf” who prefers to run the 25k as a traditional individual race, that’s one option. You can run each of the three loops in any order you wish, and you’ll return to the same starting point after each one.
- If you’re wanting a team to run with, consider the “Wolfpack Race,” where you and a team of 2 other runners will complete all three loops together. Your pack is only as fast as your slowest wolf, and the loops can again be run in any order your team wishes.

- The “Mountain Relay” is for teams of people who each want to run all 25k in a relay format. Everyone on the team of three will run all three of the loops, but they must run one teammate at a time. This means only one team member will be out on the trails at a time while the rest of the team hangs back at home base on the Sun Deck. Again, the loops can be run in any order.
- If you want a little less running but want the team relay experience, there’s the “Sprint Relay.” Teams will each run one of the three loops and each team member will run a different loop. Again, the loops may be run in any order, but only one team member can be out there at a time.

If you love relays, this race is a great opportunity to get all the team benefits without the smelly van and rising costs of gas. The afterparty will be great too, as there will be post-race food and beverages at the Sahale Lodge at Mt Hood Meadows. There will be a custom finisher award and raffles too.
