There are two types of sunglass people that I know of: 1) the ones who lose them and break them every season, have numerous pairs because they’re always misplaced, and don’t spend more than $20 on a pair because it’s futile; 2) those who have had the same trusty pair for years and have a sentimental bond with these special eye protectors.
Weirdly enough, both of these types of people may be prime candidates for sunglasses from Tifosi Optics.
Style:
I don’t claim to be the epitome of style, especially as I approach my forties. However, I like to think I manage to keep up a decent appearance with some “cool” accessories. Among these, the Sanctum sunglasses stand out as one of my more fashionable possessions. This particular style, characterized by its interconnected lenses (a shield style), is currently deemed “in” according to my kids.
Unlike some more flamboyant options like the gaudy and pre-teen favorite Pit Vipers, – which I couldn’t pull off even if I tried (or wanted) – the Sanctums offer a more understated take on the trend. With seven different lens and frame colors to choose from, they exude a sense of coolness without crossing into gaudiness or ostentation.
While looking cool or good in sunglasses is certainly desirable, having a pair that is comfortable enough to actually wear is equally important. After all, style means nothing if they’re heavy, cause discomfort to your ears or nose, or constantly brush against your eyelashes – leading you to stash them away in a drawer.
Despite their larger profile, the Sanctums remain remarkably lightweight and incredibly comfortable. This can be attributed to several design features. Firstly, the hydrophilic rubber nose piece not only ensures a secure grip but also adjusts to provide increased traction as your face perspires – it gets grippier as you get slippier (ha!). Additionally, the Tifosi Glide technology ensures a snug, no-bounce fit without the discomfort of feeling like your face is being squished.

Remarkably, these sunglasses weigh in at just 26 grams, thanks to the innovative Thrive Frame construction. This frame material, comprised of 45% plant-based components, including castor plant derivatives, strikes a perfect balance between lightness and durability.
Moreover, the use of castor plants, which thrive in harsh conditions, means that its cultivation doesn’t encroach upon land needed for other crops, making it an environmentally conscious choice.
Function:
Crafted from shatterproof polycarbonate and providing protection against harmful UVA/UVB rays, the lenses of these sunglasses are not just a luxury but an absolute necessity. This level of protection is especially crucial for runners, as it shields their eyes from the sun’s damaging rays during outdoor workouts, helping to prevent eye strain, sunburn, and long-term damage to vision.
I must admit, having reviewed several Tifosi pairs over the years, I’m consistently impressed by their exceptional fit and comfort, all while maintaining affordability.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
