Ignik’s Mountain Collection Heated Gear Unleashes Warmth in the Great Outdoors

Running in the chilly weather of Oregon presents a unique set of challenges, where the cold becomes a formidable adversary for even the most dedicated runners. As temperatures drop, the biting winds and damp conditions characteristic of the region can make every step feel like a battle against the elements. The cold weather not only adds an extra layer of physical strain but also tests the mental resilience of those hitting the pavement or trails. Yet, amidst the frosty air and misty landscapes, runners find a distinctive and invigorating experience, pushing through the cold to achieve their fitness goals in the beautiful but demanding terrain of Oregon.

Ignik recently sent us a few items to keep us warm this winter when running and being outside.

Recalling the pandemic era of 2020-2021, some of my most cherished running memories include participating in events like the Haulin’ Aspen and Backcountry Rise. Beyond their breathtaking landscapes, these races offered a welcome semblance of normalcy during a challenging time. What’s more, they required an overnight stay in my compact SUV.

Navigating this new facet of outdoor adventures was a bit of a learning curve for me, and I found myself somewhat ill-prepared. While I managed to make it work, I lacked the gear that could truly enhance the car camping experience. Enter the Backside Heated Seat and Topside Heated Blanket – two items that promise to elevate my future car camping endeavors, ensuring a blend of comfort and warmth that was previously missing from my impromptu overnight stays.

Mountain Collection

At the forefront, let’s recognize that both hail from the Mountain Collection, a visual testament that goes beyond mere aesthetics. More than just stylish accessories, the visuals of these items embody the ethos of outdoor enthusiasts who thrive on being amidst nature.

The Mountain Collection serves as a tangible representation, not just appealing to the eyes but also resonating with the spirit of those who relish being outdoors, immersing themselves in fresh air, and embracing adventures – all while staying warmly connected to the elements. This collection includes art from Jessa Gilbert.

Backside Heated Seat

The Backside Heated Seat is simple in nature – it’s a seat that keeps your backside literally warm and comfortable. Is there anything worse than sliding into a freezing car after a long run and putting your behind on cold leather seats?? (Ok, there are probably worse things, but it’s still uncomfortable).

The technology embedded in this pad ensures a rapid warm-up, making it ideal for instant relief. It’s a little stiff at first, but its light weight and portability are huge plusses, fitting seamlessly into my active lifestyle.

The Backside Heated Seat Pad boasts advanced technology that guarantees a swift warm-up, providing instant relief. Through a clever combination of conductive materials and a rapid-heating mechanism, this pad achieves optimal warmth.

Adjusting the temperature is a breeze, ranging from 60 to 100 degrees, thanks to the convenient remote control. Its versatility shines as it proves equally effective when placed on a camp chair, ensuring a toasty post-run recovery that adds some extra warmth to your outdoor experience. It comes in three colors.

Note: You will need to purchase a car adaptor if you desire this for vehicle purposes.

Topside Heated Blanket

While the seat may have your backside covered, the Topside Heated Blanket takes care of the rest of you. This blanket (which can also be used as a standalone option in non-heat-necessary months) warms up quickly and efficiently via the same heat conducting tech.

This system utilizes conductive thread technology, strategically woven into the fabric to ensure even heat dispersion. With adjustable heat settings, I could customize my heat needs based on the intensity of the cold.

Cape Mode!

This heat goes through the middle section of the blanket, allowing you to wrap yourself up to keep the heat in. It heats up quickly and we found it to stay warm for quite some time afterwards, even when not plugged in. It also has a couple loops that connect to turn this into “cape mode” – a great option for surrounding yourself in heat. Imagine finishing a trail run, wrapped in the warmth of the blanket while enjoying the scenic views.

The blanket made from 100% recycled polyester shell and insulation, making it an environmentally friendly option. It can fold up pretty small into the accompanying carrying shell, all things considered, so it’s great for when space saving is necessary.

The outer shell of the Topside Heated Blanket adds a practical touch with its water-resistant feature, rendering it an ideal companion for misty days in the Pacific Northwest. Underneath, a non-slip microsuede surface enhances its functionality, proving especially advantageous in scenarios like car camping.

For this purpose, laying the blanket with the microsuede side up on your car mattress provides a comfortable surface to rest on, while wrapping the remaining portion around yourself or with another blanket ensures you stay in place. This setup offers the best of both worlds, allowing you to avoid slipping on the water-resistant lining while still enjoying the warmth.

Moreover, the intelligent controller brings convenience to the next level. It enables users to schedule a shut-off duration, giving you the flexibility to program the blanket to turn off after a specified time, be it 2 or 6 hours. This feature ensures that you can customize your heating experience, preventing any discomfort from excessive warmth during your sleep.

The Topside Heated Blanket comes in three colors.

For Consideration:

While both the Backside Heated Seat and Topside Heated Blanket offer impressive features, it’s important to note a shared limitation – their relative lack of portability when no power source is available. While they are obviously easily transportable as a standalone product, the moment you unplug from a power source, the warmth begins to dissipate.

One key aspect contributing to this is the absence of an internal battery pack, restricting the range of movement. To fully capitalize on these heated companions, access to power, whether through your vehicle or a portable power bank, is pretty essential.

While this limitation may not be a dealbreaker for many users, it’s worth considering if you had envisioned taking the heated seat to a chilly November OSU football game or the blanket on a camping trip where proximity to your vehicle or a power source may not be guaranteed.

It’s a noteworthy aspect to bear in mind as you plan your outdoor excursions with these otherwise stellar heated essentials. These definitely fit the vibe of “van-life” or car camping.

Overall:

Whether you are needing to warm up post-run, taking a car camping excursion, cheering on the Ducks at Autzen (though it never rains at Autzen, it does get cold), or simply enjoying a crisp morning coffee on the porch, Ignik’s heated gear brings a new level of comfort to the unpredictable weather of the Pacific Northwest. These products aren’t just about staying warm; they’re about extending your outdoor season and embracing every moment, rain or shine.
