Dress Like a Man: Underwear 19.0 – featuring Lan Banks

Those of you who have been reading this blog for a while, know that I have a little bit of a “thing” for men’s underwear. In fact, there was a time where I was reviewing men’s underwear on a monthly (or even bi-weekly) basis for a bit. It’s been a while, but I am back with version 19 – featuring Lan Banks.

It sounds weird to say out loud, but I am back on an underwear kick. Here’s a little intro to Lan Banks:

Lan Banks is the brainchild of entrepreneur and sports enthusiast Olanrewaju Irawo. He mastered a professional jet-setting lifestyle amidst regular running and boxing sessions – work hard and played hard…The goal was to make briefs for men that could handle anything life threw at them. From contact sports to long periods in meetings with poor air conditioning, these briefs would never disappoint.

It’s always weird to review undergarments. I mean, its underwear. However, even though it can be awkward, it’s also one of the few items that we (at least as men) wear over and over, potentially even year after year. Thus, comfort and functionality are important – and doubly so for those of us who wear them when running.

Lan Banks clearly produces high-quality boxer briefs for men. They are known for their comfortable and stylish designs that cater to the needs of modern men. The company’s commitment to using only the best material in their products ensures that their underwear is durable and long-lasting, making them a good investment. None of these mass-produced options that hold up to a few months of wear before getting too uncomfortable to wear.

The construction of Lan Banks boxer briefs is top-notch. The underwear is made from a blend of high-quality fabrics such as nylon, spandex, and modal, which combine for breathability and stretch. Our review pairs – the Obas Sky-Blue long Trunk Boxer Brief and Organica Trunk – is made from a 92% Modal 8% Spandex construction. The waistband is also comfortable and durable and has not lost its elasticity yet, even after our multiple washes. The seams are well-stitched and I have experienced no chafing, making them perfect for daily wear.

While there is a time and place for briefs and boxers, I am boxer-brief guy through and through. The longer inseam allows me wear in all settings – from casual to under non-lined running shorts. Lan Banks specializes in this style and from what I have experienced, they seem like they can hold up to the latter with most of their offerings. The fabric is moisture-wicking and they have stayed pretty much in place, which makes them great for running. I personally prefer these a little bit more for casual wear (given a tiny bit thinner fabric), but they have seemed to do decently well in aerobic activities thus far.

The price falls on the higher end of things, but having a trustworthy and long-lasting option is far better (in my opinion) then continually purchasing poorly-fitting 3-packs quarter after quarter. Overall, Lan Banks boxer briefs are a solid choice.
