Ever thought about what makes a great trail race? Forsome of us, we want the achievement of completing a particular distance. For others it’s about the competition. For others it’s about the fitness. Maybe it’s all those things, and maybe it’s just the opportunity to hang out the coolest people on the planet. This is where the Emerald City Trail Series comes in.
In June, when the weather gets nicer and the sun shows up for more than ten minutes, the fine folks at NW Dirt Churners put together a 5 race series that takes place at the Howard Buford Recreational Area and Mt. Pisgah Arboretum in Eugene. The 5 races happen every Thursday in June, starting at 6:30pm, and range from 3 to 8 miles. Sounds good, right?
But wait, there’s more. Every race is different, featuring short climbs, fun downhills, fast flat sections, single track trails, rocky portions, and more. The views are amazing and the park makes a great place to bring the entire family. And the best part? Hanging out after each event to enjoy some of the best post-race vibes, while getting to know local trail runners like you!
