Portland Bridge Loop Challenge Going on Now!

Run with Paula has organized a series of virtual races of varying distances making use of Portland’s popular bridge-loop running routes. The Portland Bridge Loop Series races have set courses to be run on your own time, with a week for each race – the second race is going on now and you can run the route through June 14, so don’t delay! (We are truly sorry we didn’t post in time for the first race, and we apologize for the omission!)

There are maps of each course so you can be sure about where you’re running, which is especially helpful for those of you who need turn-by-turn directions. (Nikki, I am talking to you.)

Race 2 (June 8-14): Starting at the Salmon Street Fountain and running clockwise over the the Steel Bridge , then south to the Tilikum Crossing and back to the fountain. 4 miles.

Race 3 (June 15-21): This 7.4-mile route starts at the west end of the Tilikum Crossing and goes clockwise on Springwater, then over the Sellwood and along the Riverfront Trail.

Race 4 (June 22-28): Run the Steel-Sellwood Loop of 10.5 miles, again running clockwise.

Race 5 (June 29-July 5): This is a half marathon that makes use of the Steel-Sellwood loop and adds on the Steel-Hawthorne loop to make up the distance.

Each race is $15, which is a pretty sweet deal based on what I’ve seen for other virtual races. Add in the fact that there are PRIZES and it sounds even better!

We started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. We also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support local race organizers.
