Last year, Super Dave Thomason, of SuperFit Productions, (re)introduced Bend to a new set of trail races. Formerly known as the Down & Dirty Half, the Storm King Half was met with great feedback following its inaugural year. More than just the half, the 5K and 10K distances also proved to be winners, as young and old took part in what is sure to become a favorite fall race.
The course is a mix of single track and dirt roads, which offer great places for passing, while enjoying the pine trees and crisp air of October in Bend. All runners will start together, with the shorter distances heading back sooner. There is a small amount of elevation gain, but mostly rolling, keeping the course challenging, yet fun for everyone.
Weather can always be a factor, and it is not uncommon to get snow, or see highs near 80, during this time of year. So check the weather forecast before heading out, but definitely head out, because SuperFit events are always fun and always well attended.
When: Sunday, October 13th. All races start at 9am.
Cost/Register: Half = $50. 10K = $40. 5K = $30. Register online.
