Race Preview: 2019 Sunset on the Springwater Half Marathon/10k/5k (Portland)

When I was looking for a fall event to sign up for in the Portland area, I came across this race and was immediately drawn to it for several reasons – the greatest of which is it being an evening run which sounded great (I prefer to not be a morning person). It also runs along a different route than the usual Portland races and it allows my family to be able to come watch since it’s not crazy early in the morning AND runners get 40% admission to the River Lantern Lighting event after the race! If you are looking for something a little different to run, here are the details on this great race option.

Sunset on the Springwater starts and finishes in Sellwood Riverfront Park at 3:45pm and are a flat and fast route through the lovely neighborhoods of Sellwood and down through the Springwater Corridor running/cycling paths. There are aid stations every 2 miles and after you finish the race, enjoy food and drinks with live music playing, family games in the park, or even jump in the river to cool off! Every participant gets a very commemorative cool medal and shirts are also available for purchase!

Check out this “fun in the sun” evening race in Portland – it’s guaranteed to be a wonderful time!
