Living in the Portland Metro area has so many perks, including the proximity to trails in the Columbia Gorge, berries on Sauvie Island, and sandy beaches at the ocean. And if you are like me, then you don’t get to any of these beautiful places enough. So on behalf of future you, consider signing up for the Seaside Beach Run to get yourself out of the city and into the sand (literally).
5K, 10K, and Kids’ Dash races will take place on the beach, so that runners and walkers get to enjoy the coast and avoid traffic. There is also a 5K walk option on the promenade for those who want to join in but keep their shoes clean. After the events, everyone gets to join in for the awards ceremony and a free picnic lunch.
3.1 or 6.2 miles on the beach and then a picnic. What a lovely Saturday.
This is truly a community event, from the kids events and picnic finish. So proceeds are going to a local community need. Fit To Be Teens facilitates events to collect funds to provide fitness opportunities for Clatsop County middle and high school students, including gym memberships and fitness assessments. Their leaders focus on kids not currently involved in competitive sports to encourage all youth to be healthy.
