Kickin’ It in Altra Smith Boots

We received a press release a few weeks ago that outlined that wearers of the footwear brand Altra are more likely than others to continue to purchase this brand. I have been frantically looking to find the original source, but the sentiment does make sense regardless. I think that many runners are pretty loyal to their companies if the experience is good, but Altra has unique features that focus on providing a natural toe box and zero-drop platform. That keeps those who want/need these characteristics to keep coming back.

Now those individuals can add to their wardrobe – outside of running shoes – with the Altra Smith Boot. These casual boots are a great option for those who are looking for all the features of the Altras they love, in an everyday wear option. In addition to the toebox and zero-drop, the outer is DWR-treated leather upper that has held up to the elements so far. I found the foam insole to be extremely comfortable and haven’t had any issues with fatigued feet so far.

The main drawback may be that they do, obviously, have the natural footbox design – making it wider near the toes (you are probably familiar with this look if you are familiar with Altras). I have found in dress shoes that with more width comes less formality. They also have a light sole, making it appear more casual as well. But while they may not be something that can completely replace an Oxford, they definitely pair amazingly well with jeans or kackis.

For those who swear by Altra, these are a worthwhile everyday investment. And even for those who aren’t, I think these can maybe win you over or give you another option when you are heading out to post-race celebratory brunches – all while keeping your feet happy at the same time!
