Ah, it’s the time again where the weather offers equal part trepidation and bliss, so let’s have a challenging hill for this week’s Strava Segment of the Week, where yes, it’s a hard segment, but once you’re done you’ll feel pretty good! And, it’s got a fun name: Eeeeww.
The run is along highway 10 starting at the intersection of Terwilliger and Highway 10, running west for 0.3 miles at an average grade of 4%. That’s a 92 foot gain … but it’s only slightly longer than once around a track!
As of March 16, 2018, the course records for the Eeeeww are:
Women’s: Madeline Tomseth from March 2018, 2:11
Men’s: Bik Mpath from September 2017, 1:46
And only one Run Oregon Strava Club member has logged this segment: Charissa Y holds the Club title with a time of 3:02 from February 2017.
Our club was led this week in total running time by local race organizer Steve Walters, at 18:54:16 hours. With others, you might think they left their watch on, but Steve also logged 123.7 miles this week and he does quite a few ultras – way to go Steve! The Run Oregon Strava Club is up to 147 members now.
Strava is an online training and racing log for runners and cyclists. The basic account is free and requires you to create a login. There is also a premium version, but in order to run and record routes as described in this post, you do not need to subscribe to their premium service. Note that this is not sponsored by Strava, nor endorsed or supported in any way by Strava. It’s just a fun thing we’re going to do to give some speedy shout-outs to area runners and pose a challenge to those of you willing to take on their segment.
