Strava Segment of the Week: Terwilliger Hill 300 Meter

How about a nice hill to get you ready for the Shamrock Run? The Terwilliger Hill 300 Meter starts just after where Terwilliger passes the Lilac Garden above the Duniway Track, and runs to the top of that park – the steepest part of Terwilliger, practically. But, it’s only 300 meters (0.18 miles) so the 4% grade should be no problem. This segment has been attempted 9,634 times by 2,203 people.

We are also changing what we list on our “course records board.” Now, we are only going to list the leaders from within the Run Oregon Strava club. So make sure that you are part of the Run Oregon club! We currently have 140 members, and it’s just a fun way to track your running within a smaller, supportive community.

As of March 2, 2018, the course records within Run Oregon club members for the Terwilliger Hill 300 Meter are:

Women’s: Eric Barten from March 2017, 1:08

Men’s: Alexa Hasman from February 2018, 1:32

Good job, Eric and Alexa!

Strava is an online training and racing log for runners and cyclists. The basic account is free and requires you to create a login. There is also a premium version, but in order to run and record routes as described in this post, you do not need to subscribe to their premium service. Note that this is not sponsored by Strava, nor endorsed or supported in any way by Strava. It’s just a fun thing we’re going to do to give some speedy shout-outs to area runners and pose a challenge to those of you willing to take on their segment.

We started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. We also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support local race organizers.
