Race Preview: 2018 WinterFest Royal Run 5k & 10k (Bend)

Every year in Bend, the Oregon WinterFest brings people together for three days of yummy food and drinks, live music, and activities the whole family can enjoy. One of the many fun events is the Royal Run 5k and 10k, which is occurring on February 17th this year.

The Royal Run is an adventure obstacle course where you will not only be climbing walls, trekking over tires, and crawling around, but you’ll be battling the elements as well. Both the 5k and 10k will begin at the Les Schwab Amphitheater Ticket Office in the Old Mill District of Bend. The course, which will take you along both paved paths and trails, will wind along the Old Mill District and the Deschutes River.

While the Royal Run is not appropriate for small children, there will be a Hot Cocoa Run for kids between 3-10 years old to enjoy. Costumes are encouraged and kids will race to make the best cup of hot cocoa by rushing from station to station collecting ingredients.

The WinterFest Fire King and Ice Queen will be making an appearance at this event to “knight” you with a souvenir glass if you are one of the first 200 registrants and you’ll also get a complimentary beverage as you cross the finish line. Come celebrate at the Bent Lounge for the post-race festivities!!
