Find a Weekend Long Run: Saturday with Coach Jim and Sunday with the Red Lizards

As we look around for more an more options for you to join in a weekend long run, we want to be sure to also remind you of the long-standing Coach Jim runs. These are free group runs geared towards a spring marathon, led by experienced pace group leaders from various locations around the Portland metro area. To keep up on where the Coach Jim run will be each weekend, be sure to like and engage with the Coach Jim Run facebook page here.

The Coach Jim for Saturday, December 2 is from the Foot Traffic store in the Cedar Mill neighborhood, located at 13306 Cornell Road. The run is split up into two routes of 5 miles and 8 miles. First up is an out-and-back of 5 miles along NW Cornell Road, starting at 8a. The 8-miler is an out and back on a variety of roads through Oak Hills and Bethany.

These runs are open to everyone, and you can choose to run one or both of the routes with the group. Many runners have run multiple marathons, but I think this is an excellent group for those new to the distance as well. You will feel welcomed at the Coach Jim runs!

The Red Lizards hold a Sunday run each weekend from the Starbucks on NW 23rd and Overton, logging around 12 miles each week. The pace at this run tends to vary based on who is there, but you can join the TRL message board thread to see who is planning to be there. The run starts at 8:30a.

No matter what you run this weekend, enjoy it!

About Kelly Barten (867 Articles)
I started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because I felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. I also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support LOCAL race organizers. I'm a Creighton Bluejay (undergrad) and an Oregon Duck (Sports Marketing MBA), and I live in Tigard with my husband and two kids. My "real job" is working for an incredibly awesome math textbook company doing marketing and production.
