Brooks Levitate releases September 30, 2017 – Experience Infinite Energy

Brooks Levitate

The brand new Brooks Levitate are coming out tomorrow, September 30th, and we got our hands (and feet) on a sample pair to try out. Brooks is thrilled about their new “infinite energy” construction, and we must say that we do really like these shoes. Here are the initial specs about the shoes:

  • Neutral support
  • 10mm drop
  • Weight:
    • 11.2 oz – men
    • 9.7 oz – women
  • Medium/High arch

They may be a little heavy for some who are used to a lighter shoe, but these didn’t feel overly bulky or heavy. They also fit like a glove – the fit knit upper creating a comfy and secure fit with each step. So, what about that new midsole design? Well…

The groundbreaking DNA AMP midsole material captures the energy you generate with every foot strike – and returns it right back to you…DNA AMP was created, in partnership with chemistry giant BASF, to be the perfect blend of our legendary cushion and incredible energy return. Using a polyurethane foam, wrapped in a TPU skin, it captures the energy created by each foot strike and gives it no place to go but up – straight back to you.

I have put about 25 miles on these the past week and they feel really great. I found that the collar is a little thicker than I am used to, so it did take a little getting used to. It wasn’t uncomfortable, just new and different. Kelly’s been wearing them quite a bit this week too – logging more than 20 miles herself – and she likes them too. “They are a pretty unstructured shoe through the upper, fitting almost like a slipper; but the stability and response of the base and midsole offer a smooth ride. I did think they felt a little heavier when I took them out of the box, but didn’t notice it when running. I actually liked the more padded collar – that, combined with the lace-lock way that I tie my shoes, prevented any slipping and there was no breaking-in period with these.” Kelly also noted that her female co-workers swarmed her when she wore them to work one day, demanding to know how they could get a pair.

There are two basic color schemes for the Levitate’s – each with a blue and white/grey version. As always, take these for a spin and if you are not 100% satisfied within 90 days, return for free!

Pre-order Women’s and Men’s versions for $150.

Thank you to Brooks for providing us with a sample pair. Please read our transparency page for info on how we do our reviews.
