Race Preview: 2017 Lake of the Woods Tri-Sport Weekend (including Half & 5k) – Klamath Falls

The Lake of the Woods Tri-Sport weekend is scheduled to take place Saturday and Sunday, September 9 & 10 in Klamath Falls at the Lake of the Woods resort. The two day event will feature a half marathon and a 5k poker run, both scheduled for the 11th.

Schedule of events for Sunday’s running events are as follows:

8:30-9:15: Packet Pickup in Marina
9:30 am: 1/2 Marathon
10:00 am: 5K Poker Run
6:00 – 8:00 pm: Music At Lodge

The half marathon course is listed as a mix of road, gravel, meadow and single track. The race will start by the Lake of the Woods Marina and follow the trail out to the big meadow. Then it will cross the big meadow and head back over the lake trail. It will follow the lake trail until it comes out onto the road on the other side of the lake. Then it will be on the road ’til about Rainbow Bay where it will connect back to the lake trail and take you back to the Lake of the Woods Marina.

The 5k poker run is a fun way to possibly win some cash. Each participant will get a 5 card poker hand by the end of the 5K. The best 3 hands will win cash prizes based on the number of participants. The course for the 5k poker run will take place on the sprint tri course, starting off towards the Great Meadow and then curving back around to the Marina.

For the Half Marathon, awards will be given out to the top 3 men and women finishers. For the 5K poker run, the 3 best hands will win part of the pot. It will be a 50, 30, 20 split. The pot will be built by taking $5 from each registrant fee, so the more people the bigger the pot.
