If you are a skier in Oregon, chances are that you’ve been to Mt. Hood Meadows at least once or twice to play in the snow. But how often have you been there in the summer for a beautiful but challenging run? On August 5th, you’ll be given the chance for that with fourth annual Mt. Hood Meadows Uphill Challenge.
The Uphill Challenge is, not surprisingly, an uphill running (or walking) event which takes place at Mt. Hood Meadows and climbs 621 feet in elevation over the course of 1.2 miles on a gravel mountain road. After you get your quads burning and you’ve celebrated your epic finish, the stadium chairlift will escort you back down to the base area.
If you’d like to bring some friends to this event, they are also welcome to chairlift rides for $12. They can join you for the BBQ on the Paradise Deck and celebrate victory with you! Stick around for the awards ceremony at 1:00PM where $250 in prize money will be awarded to the top man and woman.
Competitors are encouraged to bring their own water bottles, as aid will not be available on the course, and don’t forget your sunscreen. It’s possible that the race will be a warm one, even in the morning.
Come check it out. The view will be worth the challenge!
