Race preview: 2017 Must-Dash 1K and Little Shaver’s Fun Run, Springfield

Mustaches are encouraged, even in the Little Shaver’s Fun Run.

Short races and unique distances are a lot of fun, and runners will have an opportunity to go for a PR in a rare 1K race on February 18th in Springfield at the Must-Dash 1K. As part of the mustache event craze (“Must-Dash”, get it?), the event encourages participants to sport real or exaggerated facial hair on their upper lips, with prizes up for grabs in a mustache contest. A photo booth will also be available. A Little Shaver’s Fun Run for kids will precede the 1K. Dogs are not allowed, but children in strollers can ride along for free.

The race is presented by the Willamalane Park And Recreation District, and takes place at the beautiful Dorris Ranch park. The 1K course runs on part of the Middle Fork Path on gentle trails through the woods. The event is untimed, but offers a unique distance in a scenic setting for only $5.
