With Halloween rapidly approaching, it’s time to start getting ready for one of the fastest growing and most popular categories of seasonal running events, the zombie runs, in which participants choose whether to be “Survivors” and get a head start, or “Zombies” and hunt down their victims by trying to ketchup with them. These events have legs (and arms and torsos), and one of the best is the Zombie Fest Run 2 Survive, presented by Energy Events at Blue Lake Park on Saturday, October 29th.
Participants at Run 2 Survive have three options: Survivor, Chasing Zombie, or Stationary Zombie. Survivors start first, with the Chasing Zombies taking off in pursuit three minutes later. Stationary Zombies will be distributed around the course, waiting in place to feast on unsuspecting Survivors as they run by. Survivors will each have two flags attached to a belt. Zombies try to grab the flags, and Survivors who lose both flags become “dead” (not “undead”, just “dead”, so run fast!)
Skilled makeup artists will be donating their time to create horrifyingly real zombies and survivors, so arrive early to look the part (or parts, depending on how gory you want to appear). After the carnage is over, stick around for the Zombie Fest Party, The Little Zombie Run (four age-group waves for kids 12 and under), and prizes and awards.
Strollers are prohibited for safety reasons, and kids younger than 12 should have a parent or guardian email registration@energyevents.com to obtain permission to participate in the adult race.
