Last-minute race preview: Run or Walk for Shelter on October 8 in Forest Grove

Last weekend, I met the organizer of the Run or Walk for Shelter, a 5k and 1 mile run and walk and a “tot trot” scheduled for this Saturday in Forest Grove. Here at Run Oregon we love to get the word out about smaller races and non-profit events; the Run for Shelter is both!

Registration fees are donation only – you decide what you will pay. All donations will go to the Temporary Emergency Shelter operated by the Forest Grove United Church of Christ and Sonrise Church in Forest Grove, and to advocate for low-income housing in our area.

Although the race is not chip timed, the 5k will be timed. There will be post-run/walk snacks, awards, and raffle prizes for participants, too.

Here are the details – please spread the word about this non-profit race!

When: Saturday, October 8, 2016

What time: 9a

Where: Forest Grove High School at 1401 Nichols Lane in Forest Grove

Register: Online here (Scroll to bottom of page) or DOR from 8a-8:45a. Registration is through a donation, you choose the amount.

About Kelly Barten (1146 Articles)
I started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because I felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. I also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support LOCAL race organizers. I'm a Creighton Bluejay (undergrad) and an Oregon Duck (Sports Marketing MBA), and I live in Tigard with my husband and two kids. My "real job" is working for an incredibly awesome math textbook company doing marketing and production.
