Living in the “Beaver State” allows for one to come up with a lot of puns about this-and-that being a ‘dam good…’ fill-in-the-blank. As a child, I loved being able to get away with using the word ‘dam’ as a substitute for the swear word connoting eternal condemnation in the fiery pits of Hades. And, being a proud graduate of Oregon State University, I was a member of the Beaver Dam at football game. That being said, I love a race that sounds a little bit naughty, like Oregon Road Runner Club’s Best Dam Run to be held on Saturday, September 24th in Estacada.
If running on a course that is mostly downhill (AKA fast and flat) and mostly paved, than this is the race for you. Look forward to kicking off your fall running season with a PR after all the training you put in over the summer months. Estacada was formed in the early 1800’s as a camp for workers who were building the hydroelectric dam on the nearby Clackamas River to supply Portland with electricity. Aptly named, this race will ensure you’ll have a dam good time! Note: this race is capped at 750 runners, so don’t delay and sign up TODAY!
