Held at Dorris Ranch in Springfield, the race is presented by, and supports, City of Refuge International, which contributes to humanitarian causes, crisis relief, medical efforts, and provides education and business training to the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Consider adding this race to your calendar on Saturday, September 11th and support a worthy cause while you run along scenic trails through filbert orchards and glimpse the Willamette River.
What: Congo Kids 5K Run & Walk. From the race website: “For the first time this year we will be kicking off our race day with a kids’ 1-mile fun run. This run is for children 10 and under and will begin at 3:00 PM. While the event is free for kids, we encourage them to participate in our cause by raising pledges. All money earned will go directly toward our orphan sponsorship program. Kids that raise over $50 will receive a free race shirt and a raffle ticket to be entered in to win great prizes. Children that raise the most funds will be announced at the race and awarded a prize.”
Fee: $30 which includes snacks after the race, live music and drawings for a variety of prizes from local businesses.
