Race Preview: 2016 Race to the Bar (Warrenton)

No. Not that bar.

Now that that is cleared up, consider heading out to the North Oregon coast for the 2016 Race to the Bar – a 10k and 5k beach run on the Warrenton sand bar. The race looks to be a unique all around event – from the start at the Peter Iredale Shipwreck site, to a long sandy course, to a bonfire finish.

The courses are simple – out and backs with the Pacific Ocean mere steps away. Make sure you stick around afterwards for the post-race bonfire which will include (as part of your entry fee):

  • Race shirt
  • Subway sandwich and fruit
  • Goodie bag
  • Two servings of Fort George beer (one of the best breweries for IPA’s in Oregon, in my opinion)

I mean, just check out this view from last year.

Packet Pick-up dates and locations:
  • Friday, Sept. 9, from 3 – 7:30pm
    • Packets and bibs are available in the parking lot next to Dooger’s restaurant in Warrenton.
  • Saturday, Sept. 10,  3 to 4:30pm
    • Packet/bib pick-up will be at the race start site. Ft. Stevens State Park, Warrenton OR at the shipwreck of the Peter Iredale.
