Strava Segment of the Week: Glendoveer Loop

For this week’s Strava Segment of the Week, we head to NE Portland and the Glendoveer Golf Course. The Glendoveer Loop segment, which has been logged 615 times by 129 people, is exactly 2 miles and has some minor rollers along with one swift decline of nearly 80 feet followed a half-mile later by a staggered incline to the finish.

First thought, let’s check in on our SSOTW from two weeks ago, the Tilikum Eastbound, brought to you by NAC. Melissa Cox and David Harmon still hold the records for this course – but keep trying!

As of July 28, 2016, the course records for the Glendoveer Loop segment are:

Women’s: Kira Provenzola from June 2016, 16:37

Men’s:  Michael Palmer from December, 2012, 13:09

So, can you beat their times and become the leader of this segment? You have until Thursday, August 11 at noon to try and break the record and see your name in “lights” on Run Oregon! We’ll post a new Segment next Friday at 11.

Strava is an online training and racing log for runners and cyclists. The basic account is free and requires you to create a login. There is also a premium version, but in order to run and record routes as described in this post, you do not need to subscribe to their premium service. Note that this is not sponsored by Strava, nor endorsed or supported in any way by Strava. It’s just a fun thing we’re going to do to give some speedy shout-outs to area runners and pose a challenge to those of you willing to take on their segment.
