Race Preview: 2016 Stars and Stripes Marathon and Half

There is a plethora of races to choose from over the July 4th holiday weekend and one of the most well know and crazy feats is to attempt the Firecracker Triple. This race is the second of that series and occurs at Greenway Park in Beaverton. The Fanno Farmhouse is the exact start location, so the full and half races are actually loop courses on the trail. Each loop is approximately 3.28 miles. The 5K runners will be doing a 3.1 mile loop. It is noted that the course is 'open' and that participants should be aware of others on the trail. The event will be timed by Huber Timing to ensure the laps are counted correctly.

¬†Registration is currently open online. It is capped at 100 runners, so don’t delay if this is an event you are considering. All finishers will receive a medal but tech shirts are an additional $15 until June 14th. The gun goes off at 7 am for all distances, but the course closes after 5 hours. There is a 6 am early start option.

This event is perfect for those looking for a low key, fun run to do on the holiday weekend. In the Firecracker Triple, this signifies the half way mark and in my opinion should be run the most conservative. Personally, I think the half would be the most fun, but with a loop course and plentiful aid stations stocked with snacks, this will be a great morning at any of the distances.
