Race Preview: 2016 Battle for the Bridge 5K (West Linn)

Battle for the Bridge

Cystic fibrosis is a nasty disease, and it’s the target of fundraising effort of the inaugural Battle for the Bridge 5K. The joint project of alums of Oregon City and West Linn high schools, this race will take place in the Mary S. Young Park in West Linn on June 18.

I’ve run a race once in that park, 2015’s SuperFan FCA 5K, and it looks like this race will use the same course. My recollection of the Mary S. Young Park course is that it was nearly entirely on a trail, with some gentle rises and drops. The full course takes two loops and was a bit short of a full 5K. (For a recap of the SuperFan FCA, which will give a good sense of the course, read Brian Bernier’s recap.)

This will be a chip-timed race, with timing services provided by Uberthons. 100 percent of the net proceeds will go toward research into Cystic fibrosis.
