$5 5k – Lents Park on June 12 still has spots remaining

After super-fast sell-outs in 2015, the 2016 Portland Parks and Rec $5 5k is a little easier to get into. As of Wednesday, June 1, there were still 75 slots remaining for the next one on June 12 at Lents Park.

As indicated by the race name, it’s only $5 to register for the Lents Park run. And athletes under age 18 can sign up for free! In addition to the main 5k event, there is a free Kids Fun Run for kiddos 8 and under. All participants may pick up their race packets starting at 7:45a.

Here are the details:

When: Sunday, June 12, 2016

What time: The 5k starts at 9a; the kid’s run starts at 8:45a

Where: Lents Park, north of SE Steele between SE 88th and SE 92nd

Register: Online here – soon – for $5

A beautiful place to run, Lents Park is relatively flat; with one notable hill in the park which doesn’t look like it will be part of the 5k cross-country style course (the Stumptown Cross Series race used a different course which did include the hill). There is a playground for the little ones, and plenty of space for a picnic lunch after the run.

I highly suggest you look for parking along SE 88th, and then walk across the park to the start/finish area, which is indicated by the star on the course map above.
