Race Preview: Peace Run 5K/10K 6/11/16 (Eugene, Ore.)

When I crossed the finish line of the Eugene Half Marathon, and made it back to the post-race festivities, a very nice man handed me a piece of paper. Not really giving what was on the paper any thought, I put it in my post-race goody bag and went about my business. Upon arriving home, when I was going through my bag of goods from the event, I noticed the piece of paper the very nice man had handed me. It was about an upcoming event. Hooray! I continued to read the flyer and noticed this race was coming up soon, and occurring in Eugene. Score!

Here are the details about this annual event, which advocates peace and compassion. The Peace Run 10K/5K will take place on Saturday, June 11 at Alton Baker Park in Eugene. The race features a choice between the 5K or 10K. The 5K course will feature a lovely tour of Alton Baker Park, including two pedestrian bridge crossings at the Autzen and DeFazio footbridges. The 10K course is equally stunning, taking participants past Lamb Cottage, through Maurie Jacobs Park, and across the Autzen and Greenway foot bridges. All are welcome! You can “walk, run or roll” to stride for peace. Eclectic Edge Racing will be on site providing announcing and timing for the race.

It’s always great to see such a wide array of events in the Eugene/Springfield area. I might have to register for this one, myself.
