Race preview: Portland ZERO Prostate Cancer 5K

The inaugural Portland ZERO Prostate Cancer 5K comes to the South Waterfront on Sunday, June 12th. Billed as “the largest men’s health race series“, including “more than 40 cities nationwide”, the event raises money for the ZERO organization for research, free testing and screening, and education, with the ultimate goal of “making prostate cancer a national priority and creating Generation ZERO – the first generation of men free from prostate cancer.”

In addition to the 5k run/walk, the Portland event, a partnership with the Oregon Urological Society, includes a 1 mile walk, a Kids Superhero Dash For Dad, and a virtual Snooze For Dudes. The location, at Elizabeth Caruthers Park and the South Waterfront district will be a nice change from the more familiar Waterfront Park / Naito Parkway race courses Portland runners are all too familiar with.

A T-shirt is included in the entry fee for adults, and kids receive a cape!
