Race Preview: Neon Night Run/Walk 5K 6/3/16 (Corvallis, Ore.)

Oregon State University will host the Neon Night Run, a 5K run/walk benefit for Mid-Willamette Family YCMA of Albany, Oregon. Wouldn’t it be so awesome to run on a Friday evening, will glow sticks, necklaces, and all sorts of awesome stuff – like a party in the streets atmosphere? Sounds pretty unique (and fun!) to me!

The evening will kick-off on Friday, June 3rd beginning at 8 p.m. The race will hit the streets about 9:15 p.m. Your registration, $30 for individual registrants, or $25 for those forming a team of 4 or more, includes a t-shirt, glow sticks and awesome prize giveaways, and lots of fun! There will be food, drink, music and even a Crazy Outfit costume contest, too!

Since this is an evening run/walk, wear those bright colored, reflective gear to gave even more “flash” on the streets (and to keep everyone really, really visible). Last time I looked, Dollar Tree sold glow sticks of all shapes, sizes and colors – including necklaces, bracelets – so check that out if you want to go crazy with color!

Packet pick-up will occur Thursday, June 2nd at the Mid-Willamette family YMCA from 5 a.m. until 10 p.m. (normal business hours). You may also retrieve your packet race day beginning at 6 p.m. in the Memorial Union Quad at OSU, where the event starts/finishes. Race day registration is available, but shirts are not guaranteed.

The Neon Night Run/Walk 5K looks to be a fun and unique event that is open to all ages and abilities and is family friendly. What a wonderful way to spend a evening!
