Small Race Previews: Mid-Valley Races on June 4 & 5, 2016

Run for the Hills - Corvallis

There are a bunch of races in the summer. We try to get to as many as we can, but sometimes there just isn't enough time in the week to get them all scheduled! If you are looking for some local races to round out your calendar, read below!

Run the Dutch

Run the Dutch (McMinnville)

Get loose and join us for the Run the Dutch 5k out in the beautiful countryside at Heiser Farms. Dutch Bros and Heidi Moore of Country Financial have partnered to bring McMinnville a 5k event that’s just plain fun. This run will be full of caffeine stops and an after party with bumping music, great coffee (it’s Dutch Bros after all), local beer and hearty food to reward you after running the Dutch.

Silver Falls Challenge (Silverton)

This year’s course follows the Trail of Ten Falls, taking runners under the South Falls. This hilly race is a vigorous run on a combination of grass, gravel, pavement and dirt trails with ruts, rocks and occasionally wet and slippery surfaces. The trail is narrow in places and has some steep grades, including several sets of stairs.

For the Kids 5K (Newberg)

Join us for this 5K Walk/Run event that supports Royal Family Kids Camp and Teen Reach Adventure Camp of Yamhill County, summer camp experiences for foster children ages 7-15. SEND A FOSTER KID TO CAMP, ONE STEP AT A TIME. This is an event that provides a healthy, fun activity for the whole family. Come participate in this non-competitive, kid-friendly event that winds through the Newberg neighborhoods north of 99W.  A timer is provided for our more serious runners.

Run for the Hills (Corvallis)

Most of the trails in the Corvallis area are maintained by volunteers from groups like the Mary’s River Chapter of the Sierra Club, the Greenbelt, the Boy Scouts and many others.

Proceeds of this event benefit the Greenbelt Land Trust Trail Fund. This fund helps purchase raw materials and equipment used for trail construction and maintenance by the volunteers who keep our trails safe and passable for users. Over $20,000 has been raised in the last five years. Proceeds have been donated for gravel and supplies to support the City/County/CSC Youth Trail Crew that has worked on our entire trail system.

30k Course: The 30k trail course uses the entire 8k course but adds a trip up to Fitton Green Natural Area for some awesome views, incorporating the NEW Mulkey Ridge connector trail each way.  The course will be challenging due to the hills, but the views and nice trails will make your work quite worth the effort.

8k Course: The scenic 8k trail run consists of challenging hills and flat stretches in Bald Hill Park, with about 1.4 miles of paved path and 3.6 miles of dirt trails. There may be a surprise musical interlude at the top of the hill. Keep your ears open.  There will be two aid stations.

2 mile course: The noncompetitive 2mi run/walk will be entirely on paved paths. The ¼ mi. kids run is paved.

When: June 5, 2016 at 930am
Where: Benton County Fairgrounds
