Race Preview: 2016 Run to Remember (Washougal, WA)

The WHY Racing Events Run to Remember 5k/10k run/walk and Memorial Day Mile time trial takes place in Washougal, WA, on Saturday, May 28th. Wear your Red, White, and Blue, and remember our service members.  Proceeds from the event support Battle Buddies, an organization that matches veterans with service dogs.

The first event on the schedule is the Memorial Day Mile at 9am. This is the perfect opportunity to see how fast you can run your fastest mile, or walk with your family to remember those military members who paid the ultimate price. The course for the 1 mile run is a point-to-point race with no turns in order to get the most accurate timing.

The 5k and 10k start together at 10am. Both races follow an out-and-back course starting near A St and Pendleton Way in downtown Washougal. From there, runners and walkers head south towards the Columbia river, and most of the run is on a path along the river. 5k participants naturally turn around first, but 10k runners go all the way past Redtail Lake and into the Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge before reaching their half way point.

After the race, stick around for delicious foods, vendors, music, and entertainment. Prizes will be given to the three top finishers male and female, the top masters finishers, and age group awards to the top three finishers in all age groups.
