Most Oregonians have a pretty good understanding of where Smith Rock is located within the state. For some of us, it’s in our back yard. Smith Rock State Park has quietly become a mecca for rock climbers and is now becoming a popular place to run, thanks to the fine folks at Go Beyond Racing. On Saturday May 7th, the Smith Rock Ascent (SOLD OUT, but currently accepting wait list runners) offers the popular 50K, the challenging 15 mile race and the fun 4 miler.
On Sunday May 8th, the Smith Rock Road Half & Road 10K offer similar amazing views of the surrounding park while providing road runners races of their own! The cool thing about the Sunday race is that it takes place on Mother’s Day, so all the moms will receive a rose when they finish and are automatically entered into a drawing for a great spa package!
It’s not too late to sign up for the Sunday races but you will want to register for the trail races early next year as the Ascent races fill up quickly. Looking forward to seeing you out there!!
