Small Race Preview: 2016 Loyalty Days Run (Newport)

Newport Loyalty Days

The Loyalty Days 2M Fun Run will take place in Newport on April 30, 2016. This Coast Hills Running Club event has a 11:45am start time, which puts the run just ahead of the Loyalty Days Parade, and participants will be running and walking along the parade route lined by spectators. The race benefits local schools' track and field programs; the school with the most run participants will be awarded a $500 grant. The race is a point to point race. On the day of the race, check-in, packet pickup, and race day registration takes place at Integrated Body Fitness, located at 1111 S. Coast Hwy. in Newport. If you purchased an event shirt during registration, you can pick it up there. For day-of-race registrants, a limited number of shirts will be available for sale.

Buses take participants to the start line. Keep in mind that the last bus will leave the finish area at 11:15am for the 11:45 start. Participants will then run or walk down a closed two-mile stretch of Hwy 101, just ahead of the Loyalty Days parade, which starts at noon. If as a race participant you are passed by the parade, please move to the sidewalk and finish your race there.

All race finishers will receive a finisher’s ribbon; the top three finishers in age group categories will also receive award ribbons. Parents and children that run the race together receive a silver shoe charm.
