Race Preview: 2016 Duck Centennial 5K (Eugene)

The 2016 Duck Centennial 5k run takes place at University of Oregon in Eugene on Saturday, April 23rd. This run is hosted by the U of O Military Science Department and celebrates 100 years of the national ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) program at the university. All proceeds go to the ROTC Endowment Fund, which will help improve the program.

Registration and packet pickup will begin at 8am with the race start at 8:30am. The race starts and ends at the grass circle just south of the Autzen Bridge. The 5k course takes racers head west on the Ruth Bascum Bike Path, cross the Willamette just after the 1 mile marker, then run on paths on Day Island before crossing back south on Autzen Bridge to the finish by the grass circle. For those not familiar with the Univeristy of Oregon campus, these directions may not mean much, but trust me when I say that this race course will be beautiful and (mostly) car free!

After the race stick around for a pancake breakfast and awards. If you are not familiar with the ROTC program, cadets will be there to answer your questions.
