Join me at this year's Walk/Run for the Animals, occurring Saturday, May 7, 2016 in Vancouver, Washington.

Join me on Saturday, May 7th for the Thomas A. Plein Foundation's Walk/Run For the Animals 25th 'Birthday' Celebration. This event will feature a 5K timed run and a 3-mile walk. Have a team of friends, family or coworkers?! Join together as a team, and be eligible for individual fundraising, and team fundraising prizes! After all, this awesome event is all about raising funds for the incredible work done at the Humane Society for SW Washington. Even better, all proceeds benefit the Humane Society for SW Washington! Oh -- and dogs are welcome to participate, too! Exciting! "Your support allows us to heal, helps us train, and lets us match dogs and cats with forever families. In 2015, 4,400 animals found their perfect match through adoption. A new record!"

Not only is this event a fundraiser for the Humane Society of SW Washington, but it is packed for of runner and walker treats. By registering, you will receive a goodie bag, receive a dog bandana for your furry friend if you choose to bring them, an awesome Party in the Park, finisher medals for 5K runners, and the ability to earn some incredible prized by putting your fundraising efforts to good use. Also, teams! There is a fabulous team competition. Each month, teams are eligible for prizes via the Team Challenge. For March, teams are eligible for a random prize drawing, and in April, the challenge is all about ‘reaching the masses!’ “Be the team with the most donors via CrowdRise by April 27th. Doesn’t matter the amount they contribute! Get 100 people to donate $1!” There is an exclusive Team Chalet for teams raising $500 of more, as well as a personal prize delivery for the top five highest fundraising teams.

The two courses will be outstanding. The 5K run, which is dog friendly (!!!), is an out and back course through the Fort Vancouver historical site. Water stations for both us humans, and our lovely dog running companions, will be available on the course. Race results and photos will be available online, and all 5K runners will receive a finisher medal (yay!). Also, the fastest man, women, dog, and runner under 13 years old will receive a prize.

Walkers will have their own unique course, separate from the runners, taking them along the scenic Columbia River. This is also an out and back course, that will be equipped with water stations for walkers, and our beloved four-legged companions. A special treat will await you at the finish line of the 3 mile walk!

Onsite at the finish line will be an incredible Vendor Village, which will host some of the best animal loving organizations, all in one spot. Vendors will have free samples and special promotions available for participants. Me, a cat person, is super happy for the Vendor Village, as it will feature products for both dogs and cats! I know I’ll be filling up a bag for of the latest and greatest toys and treats to bring home to my beloved felines.

Get registered for this year’s 25th birthday celebration! I am very excited to be participating in this years event, and I can’t wait to see everyone there, whether you bring your loyal dog running/walking partner, or not. Everyone is welcome!
