15 half marathoners and 2 marathoners finished their races at the 2016 BATH (Bill Aronson Track Half) on Saturday, January 30 at Duniway Track in SW Portland.

Josh Kaplan, 29, earned the win with a finish time of 1:12:52. That is an insane 5:33.5 mile pace. Coming in behind him was 33-year-old Matt Palilla in 1:14:26 and 35-year-old Tim Murphy at 1:16:41.

In the women’s race, Melissa Cox, 32, led from the gun and never relinquished her lead. This former Creighton Bluejay took first place in 1:24:16.

A handful of spectators supported these dedicated runners who completed 52.5 laps of the true mile track. A number of them jogged laps to stay warm and offer additional support to their favorite runner(s).

In the marathon, Tony Daguanno won in a time of 2:43:26. Bill Aronson (yes, that Bill Aronson) earned the master’s title, finishing in 2:52:34.

Watch the Run Oregon blog for the 2017 BATH where you, too, can run 52.2 or 105 laps around a track just to log a half or full marathon on a truly accurate course. The price is right (free), but don’t expect much swag. Water, energy gel, and everything else is BYO.

About Kelly Barten (1152 Articles)
I started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because I felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. I also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support LOCAL race organizers. I'm a Creighton Bluejay (undergrad) and an Oregon Duck (Sports Marketing MBA), and I live in Tigard with my husband and two kids. My "real job" is working for an incredibly awesome math textbook company doing marketing and production.
