Race Preview: 2016 Truffle Shuffle 4 Mile & 2 Mile Race

2016 Truffle Shuffle

A race that supports a good cause and gives decadent chocolate truffles as a post race reward. This is the type of race most runners dream of, but could such an amazing and seemingly magical race like this actually exist? Well believe it or not, yes, yes it does. Thanks to Eclectic Edge Racing, the 25th annual Truffle Shuffle 4 Mile and 2 Mile Race will fulfill your race loving, humanitarian driven, and chocolate consuming ways. The race is set to take place Sunday, February 7 at Alton Baker Park in Eugene.

Proceeds for the Truffle Shuffle will benefit Lane County’s largest non-profit human services organization, St. Vincent de Paul, known for  helping out more than 84,000 individuals and families each year with emergency and homeless services, and affordable housing. The Truffle Shuffle has become a classic Eugene tradition offering a 4 mile run, a 2 mile walk, a 2 mile run, and a kid’s 700 meter fun run. Day of event schedule is listed as follows:

10:30am-12:45pm (Race Day Registration),
12:45pm (Kids 700m Fun Run),
1:00pm (2 Mile Run),
1:15pm (2 Mile Walk),
2:15pm (4 Mile Run)

The course will run through beautiful Alton Baker Park, utilizing many of the paths and trails featuring views of natural areas, canals, and the Willamette River. The 4 mile and 2 mile start and finish will take place, according to their web-site) at the lone cedar tree, 40 meters northeast of shelter #2. Participants are advised to stay on the left side of Day Island Road as traffic will be flowing on the right side. For 2 mile racers, please note that there will be an out and back section on Day Island Road with a turn around located “approximately 32 meters east of the bench on Day Island Road.” Again, 2 mile racers are advised to stay to the left side.
