Race Preview: Ducks vs Beavers Rivalry Clash 5k/10k (Portland)

Rivalry Clash

It’s no secret that the Ducks vs Beavers rivalry is a fun competition in Oregon, which ramps up during “rivalry week” before the Ducks vs Beavers “Civil War” game on November 27. The Ducks vs Beavers Rivalry Clash adds another fun event to the pre-game tailgating with a 5k/10k run at Portland International Raceway on Sunday, November 22.

The unique thing about this rivalry clash is that there are two separate starting areas for Ducks fans and  Beavers fans. At the start, runners will initially face each other and run towards each other before merging onto the course to cross the start line. The course is on paths along the outside of PIR; 5k runners take one loop while 10k runners go around twice. It is so nice and flat, that it may be a good day to try for a PR. Additionally, the first 20 people to cross the line will be scored like a cross country meet: First finisher gets 1 point, second gets 2 etc. The team with the lower number (Ducks or Beavers) will win the rivalry clash. After the run, be prepared to tailgate with music, food, drink, and games such as cornhole and ladderball.
