Race preview: 4K 4Charity Fun Run

It’s a safe bet that you have run your share of 5Ks, 8Ks, 10Ks, and 15Ks, but how about a 4K? Didn’t think so! But you will have a chance to set a brand new 4K PR next Wednesday afternoon at the 4K 4Charity Fun Run at Waterfront Park in downtown Portland.

The race is a cooperative effort by Portland’s technology community, and is co-sponsored by Elemental Technologies, Puppet Labs, and Simple. Proceeds will benefit Rosemary Anderson High School, a community-based alternative school that supports students who have dropped out of or been expelled from public high schools. RAHS provides an important last chance for its students, many of whom are homeless.

The course begins at the west end of the Hawthorne Bridge and follows an out-and-back loop along the paved paths of Waterfront park. Race results will not be recorded, but a clock will be placed at the finish line. All finishers will receive a medal and a sponsors’ goodie bag.

Food and drinks will be available after the race at the World Trade Center Plaza.
