Kickstarter of the Week Revisited: Athletes Collective Unbranded Sportswear (DISCOUNT CODE)

image Product: Unbranded Sportswear Location: Toronto, Canada Kickstarter End Date: October 10, 2015 Current Pledge: $5,036 of $22,733 Website: http://www.athletescollective.com/ A few weeks ago, we featured Athletes Collective Unbranded Sportswear as part of our Kickstarter of the Week series. The folks behind this campaign sent us a workout shirt to try out and give some feedback on. The shirts are currently being sold for $20 via their Kickstarter campaign. Here is a reminder of the details:

About two years ago when my partner Charlie and I turned 30, we realized that while we both loved playing tennis and basketball, our branded Federer and Lebron James shirts were not going to make us play like them, and paying a small fortune for the privilege of wearing the logos they endorsed no longer appealed to us.  Upon further investigation we realized it was impossible to buy high quality performance apparel with no visible branding on it. So instead of continuing our search, we decided to take action and spent a full year conducting research and development in order to create the perfect unbranded athletic basic for men, with fit, fabrics and performance on par with the top of the line shirts from the industry’s biggest brands but at a price affordable to every athlete, all while manufacturing in Canada.  So, AthletesCollective was born, and while our company has a name and logo, you won’t find it on the exterior of our products.

For a year now, we’ve seen great interest locally in Toronto and a real desire from male athletes for unbranded performance gear. So we decided to launch our first crowdfunding campaign (which begins later this week) to expand both our reach and product offerings.

I have worn this a few times and, at the risk of sounding hyperbolic, this is one of my favorite running shirts I now own. I don’t have a closet full of running tops (I run mostly in race shirts), but this one fits it amazingly well in my running wardrobe. When it’s clean, I find myself reaching for it before the others. The feel of the fabric is great. The fit is fantastic. For someone on the bigger side for running (6’2 and approx 180-195 depending on the holiday season), this fit me perfectly. I can only speak for the Large size, but it was long enough (longer than most larges I own) without feeling baggy. The sleeves were a great cut – short but not enough where I felt my armpit hair was going to peek out.

This is a solid shirt – a simple straightforward, well-constructed, ego-less shirt. For only $20, you can get in on the action. The campaign ends on 10/10 and still needs funding to reach it’s goal.

Athletes Collective is giving Run Oregon readers a 20% discount on all of their shirts at their website (www.athletescollective.com) using the promo code ACOREGON! This will put these shirts just over $15 USD – a steal!

  1. Hey Matt, thanks for the shoutout. For those of you reading this, I’m Adam and I’m one of the co-founders of Athletes Collective. In regards to the size of our shirt, we purposely made our size LARGE 1.5″ longer than most normal larges to fit guys just like Matt who are taller, and also for guys who might not be very tall but have broad shoulders or as we like to call it, abdominal insulation. This is not the case for the Medium Or Small which is around the same length as most Adidas or Nike running shirts.
