Race Preview: 2015 Champoeg Half Marathon, 5 Miler, and Duathlon

2015 Sprint DuathlonChampoeg Park is a great venue for racing for Portland area runners. It’s not too far (~30 minutes), but far enough away to feel like a bit of a destination, and it’s very scenic in an Oregon sort of way.

For those of you who want a choice of race distances and even race type, Energy Events’ Champoeg Half Marathon, 5 Miler, and Duathlon may fit the bill. You can go long or short, or go for a run (3.3 miles)/bike (15 miles)/run (3.3 miles) combo.

Registration for the races includes chip timing, a handcrafted finisher’s medal, a tech shirt (5 miler and half marathon) or long sleeve shirt (duathlon), post-race beer and BBQ, and music by DJ Paradox.

The half marathon course is here. It’s an out and back with a 300 foot elevation gain over 1.37 miles on the out section and the same gain over 1.18 miles on the return, but otherwise mostly flat. The 5 mile course is here, and has light rolling hills throughout.

Registration is $70 for the half marathon, $40 for the 5 miler, and $60 for the duathlon through 9/21, but if you want the shirt, you need to sign up by 9/13. On race day weekend, prices for all events go up by $5.
