Race Preview: 2015 Runtoberfest in McMinnville

There is always something special to me about hometown races. Speeding through the streets I normally train on, and then finishing on the track I raced on as a kid is a fun experience. Back for the 3rd year on October 3rd in McMinnville, the Runtoberfest is a fun, quality event. Featuring a 5K, 10K, and a kids mile run, it is a great way to have fun and help support the McMinnville Education Foundation.

The fun starts off with the kids one mile race on the track. For those 12 and under, the entry fee for this run is just $5. The 5K/10K start at 9 and utilize the rural and residential areas east of the High School, where the race starts and finishes. Registration is $25 before October 1st, add $10 for DOE. For added fun, sign up in teams of 4, same gender and the teams of each that has the lowest combined race time will win a free lunch downtown. Judging by the awesome eateries we have, it would be worth it to try and win!

Last year there was a band on hand, and plenty of people to direct participants. I expect that it will be a very well run event this year, and worth the drive if you are coming out of town. Remember to register in September to get the best value for this race on October 3rd. The real fun will be trying to win the team challenge, and I may be for hire as I plan on doing the 5K!
