Race Preview: 2015 Ole’s Assault – a crazy 2 hour Adventure Run

Ole’s Assault 2014

Ready for a little adventure?  Well, a lot of adventure… a little man made and a whole lot of natural obstacles.  Xdog Events  has an event that can not be equaled.  “Others try to manufacture adventure, we give you REAL adventure.”  Celebrate the end of summer with Ole’s Assault is happening  Sept. 13th near Astoria.

If a sense of adventure and bragging rights for finishing this impressive feat, participants receive:

  • Free camping in the group camping site (not RV area)
  • All finishers receive a commemorative dog tag
  • A post race salmon bake for participants and volunteers
  • Beer (for those 21 and older)  “Not one of those foo foo adventure races that offer one beer per ticket crap”

Event shirts are available for an extra $15.

Do take note that if you would like aid or water on the course, you must carry it.

Some of the natural obstacles available

The field of participants is limited to 250 with no exceptions, so sign up quick as it is sure to sell out!  Despite many of the natural and some of the created obstacles, no special equipment or training is needed.  The fastest finisher will likely complete the course in approximately 1.5 hours with the average being about 2 to 2.5 hours.  No distance is listed, but it looks like past events ranged from 6 to 8 miles in length.  There will be a lot of surprises and not a lot of info is available in order to keep the surprises and not spoil the adventure, but there will be no less than 10 challenges created specifically for this event.  Xdog promises that most of the course will be well marked and navigation simple… however it won’t simply be a running event.  You will use your two feet and “some other portion” of your body for this race, and you WILL finish a filthy mess.

Awards are available in 5 year increments with a special award for the top Clydesdale and top Athena (determined upon registration).  In addition to these awards, a special award will be presented to the top Guard Dog. This is presented to the top finisher in the armed forces (Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard), fire or police TEAM that finishes first.  (To qualify, you must be active, retired or in reserve.)
