Race Preview: 2015 Southwest Bible 5k Run/Walk Only $5

Southwest Bible Church will host their 4th Annual 5k Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Run on Sunday, July 12th at 5PM. Competitive and casual runners are invited for this chip timed event.  Families with strollers are welcome and walkers are encouraged to come out too. There’s something for everyone at this Southwest Bible Church tradition. Stick around after the run/walk for a free barbeque dinner and talk.  Olympian, Dan Browne, will be a guest speaker for this evening event. Browne was on the 2004 Olympic team and ran the 10k and Marathon.

Online registration is open through July 9th and will be available the afternoon/evening of the race (3:45-4:45PM and again at 5-5:45PM). The course travels along quiet suburban streets in Beaverton and there will be an aide station with water at the halfway point. Medals will be given to the top 3 overall male and female finishers as well as the top finishers in each age division. There will be door prizes for participants who register early. Shirts will be available to purchase for $8 at the event, make sure to bring cash or check. Plenty to do at this fun family run, but the best part is the price. Register before June 28th for only $5, and after that it’s only $10 through race day. Participants must be 10 years of age, or accompanied by an adult. The 1 mile fun run is free and participants must be 8 years of age, or accompanied by an adult. The 5k Run/Walk begins at 5PM and the 1 Mile Fun Run starts at 6PM.

The Southwest Bible 5k Run/Walk is a fun excuse to get the family together and you can’t beat the price. I’ve run this one before and love the course, maybe because it’s in my neighborhood and it’s familiar, regardless, it’s fun. They have plenty of volunteers to cheer you on and even have help from the Beaverton Police Department to keep things organized and safe for everyone. This is definitely an event for all ages and all abilities. Good old-fashioned fun with a barbeque to finish it off and all for only $5.
