Race Preview: 2015 C.A.T. Walk & Fun Run (Hillsboro)

C.A.T. Walk and Fun Run

The 15th annual C.A.T. Walk and Fun Run takes place in Hillsboro on July 4th. Cancer touches many people, and the CAT Walk is a benefit for Cancer Awareness and Treatment. Every run/walk participant is encouraged to raise additional funds for the cancer awareness and treatment programs at Tuality Healthcare.

The run starts and ends on Main St and 1st Ave in Hillsboro, right in front of the Hillsboro Civic Center. The course is USATF certified, and the run is chip-timed with official results available right after the completion of the race. Runners and walkers will weave their way through downtown Hillsboro, past the parade staging area, and partially the reverse of the parade route. With the 4th of July parade starting at 10am, there may be spectators lined up along the course to cheer you on. There is one water station on the course, and plenty of refreshments at the health fair afterwards.

A press release after the 2014 event describes the start/finish area activities as follows:

In addition to the timed 5K walk and fun run, the annual event also included a Kids’ Dash and a Kids’ Zone featuring a bounce house and carnival games. An adjoining health fair showcased some of the event’s corporate sponsors and highlighted many of the quality services provided at Tuality Healthcare.
