Race Preview: 2015 Rogue Farms Independence Day 5K/10K

independence day 10k

For those beer drinkers like me, there is little better than just a cold IPA on a warm summer day, especially on a day that is full of warm weather, barbeques, and fireworks. Run With Paula is bringing the inaugural Rogue Farms Independence Day 5K/10K down to the Mid-Willamette Valley in Independece on July 4, 2015!

I took my kids to the hopyard late last summer for a little harvest fest and had a blast. The area is so isolated, but just screams the perfect place for an awesome run! I asked Paula herself to describe the course and she said, “The race is going to be what I am calling FARM MILES!  🙂  You travel through the hop fields and along the Willamette River, it’s amazing.” That’s good enough for me.

Plan to bring a pair of clothes to change into, as the hopyard earth is sure to make you a little dirty. Runners will receive a burger or garden burger to fill up and will also receive a finisher’s pint to fill with Rogue ales after the race. There will be live music on-site as well. If this race is anything like Run With Paula’s Volcano Half, then the organization, after party, and atmosphere should be second to none.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the city of Independence (and even those of you who are), please take note. While the address is Independence, you need to plan on tacking on about an additional half hour to the hop farm, as it is tucked alongside the river south of town on a bunch of small windy backroads.
