Race Preview: 2015 Mt. Hood Scramble 8k Trail Run

Six miles of what race officials describe as not being “for the pansy-a** front avenue runner – DO NOT expect some cutesy lil’ downtown 5k, or some wussy boy trail-run” might deter runners who love front avenue, cutesy downtown 5k’s, or wussy boy trail runs. But for hardcore adventure seekers who aren’t afraid to get muddy, or a little bloody, the Mt. Hood Scramble 8k Trail Run might be right up your alley!

The 2015 race, by X-Dog Events, marks the 20-year anniversary for the scramble coined the Grandfather of Filth. The rugged course has participants maneuvering up hills, hurdling rocks of various sizes, wadding through creeks and mud, and navigating through heavy brush. They suggest you wear clothes you don’t mind getting ruined. And bringing Band-Aids.

The Mt. Hood Scramble 8k Trail Run will be on Sunday, June 21st, at the White River West Sno Park. Camping is being offered, free of charge, the night before the race just a few miles from the event. Registration and check-in begins at 8:30 AM with a 10:00 AM start. Awards and prizes will be presented afterwards and finishers will be treated to some post-race recovery grub, i.e., beer.

The field is limited to 400 runners and is expected to fill. Don’t forget the Band-Aids!
