The first annual Dog Gone Run 5k will be held on June 13, 2015 in Bend’s Riverfront Park. This event has traversed south along Highway 97 from when it first started in Redmond in 2013. This dog-friendly event starts at 9am, and the 5k route will take runners and their canine companions along the peaceful banks of the Deschutes.
Pre-registration is $30 (DOR $40) and includes a cotton t-shirt, a bandana for the dogs, and a chip-timed race with water on the course (both for runners and for dogs).
After the race runners and dogs can expect a Pet Pawlooza, a free pet festival, complete with refreshments from various vendor booths, a raffle, and awards will be given three-deep in several categories, including male and female runner with dog, and male and female runner with or without dog.
Proceeds of the race continue to benefit BrightSide Animal Center, an animal shelter with one of the highest-save rates in the nation with one of the lowest costs in Oregon!
